Alert!
Alert! is Manchester’s longest-running monthly fetish night for gay and bi men, and male-presenting. In February 2024 the event enters its 20th year. It has been a cornerstone of the Manchester fetish community for two decades, across half a dozen venues around the Gay Village. It has survived through thick and thin, the loss of its original venue (Legends nightclub) which was demolished to build a hotel, Bangkok bar (similar story) and many other challenged. In 2020, at a time when instances were being routinely subject to Licensing inspections, Alert! staff and supporters worked with the council to establish a landmark agreement allowing fetish venues to continue to run darkrooms. https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/fetish-nights-gay-village-green-17846136 Alert! attracts customers from all around the UK, with people often travelling to Manchester for a weekend spent in the Village. At Manchester Pride this year the event could have filled the venue twice-over.
